Kids First’s new Youth Advisory Board (YAB) is looking for applicants who are youth leaders in high school who have experience with conflict. YAB will influence school discipline policies and develop innovative solutions to conflict involving youth at school.

Kids First attorney Allison Heffern was awarded the 9th Annual Citizenship Award by the Linn County Bar Association. The Citizenship Award is granted annually to a deserving member of the LCBA in recognition of meaningful contributions to the community.

Nations Financial Group is matching all NEW (or new lately) gifts to Kids First Law Center (including anyone who last gave prior to 2019) up to $5,000 by the end of the year.

Thanks to a generous match from Cedar Rapids Bank & Trust, Hawkeye Area Labor Council, and Cedar Rapids / Iowa City Building Trades Council, $20,375 was raised on Giving Tuesday to give kids like Caleb their own paradise.

On June 30, 2020, the Des Moines office of Kids First Law Center will split off from the Cedar Rapids office and launch as an independent nonprofit organization. The Des Moines office will become the Iowa Center for Children’s Justice (ICCJ). The Cedar Rapids office will remain the Kids First Law Center.
